Reading the specifications of this car it must be one of the technically most perfect Grand Tourismos of the world. Its V12 has been reworked, dropping some kilos and a few kW, but in return gaining torque across a broader speed range. Its car body consists exclusively of mostly adhered aluminum with some magnesium in the interior. With sufficient power its weight distribution is ideal because its gearbox is situated in the rear. Taking its price into account, it is astonishing that the car is still built almost exclusively by hand. The integration into a large concern has not harmed the brand Aston Martin, obviously.
It is not necessary for Aston Martin to launch a large advertising campaign, in spite of a lacking recent racing engagement. The firm disposes of a long tradition and the fact that Aston Martin has not always earned enough money in former times should not necessarily be taken as negative. At least they did not exploit their customers. Aston Martin is about to outdo Jaguar, the other top-brand in the Ford concern. This triggers fears that Ford, which is short on cash, might keep Jaguar and instead sell the more promising brand Aston Martin.
